Meet the founder
Get to know Monty Mason, personal trainer and CryBox founder.
I have a knack for turning complex exercise science principals into easy-to-understand lifestyle and fitness strategies. Though I have 20-plus years in business with a local retailer, I’ve discovered that I am a teacher by nature. I am passionate about fitness, but more so, I am very good at guiding and motivating others to be the very best version of themselves possible. I believe that once we understand the mind-body connection inherent to fitness and lifestyle change, we can accomplish anything we set out to do.
I also believe that “how we do anything is how we do everything” is true to every aspect of our lives. So, whether I’m running a marathon or doing the dishes, this attitude helps me focus and stay committed. I believe, too, that we “begin again and again.” I learned a long time ago that the prize is in the process and that we can start and re-start that process based on where we are at any given time and that our past only impacts our future if we allow it. Finally, I believe that “we only lose when we give up on ourselves.” Some of our greatest accomplishments come from mastering those things that we don’t believe we can do until we do.
By tackling those fears and accepting those challenges, we build better bodies, but it goes beyond that. We conquer self-doubt and overcome insecurities that spill over into other areas of our lives. Helping my clients come to know this, watching them push themselves to achieve their goals, and setting them up for success is what drives me to do what I do. Watching that light come on is truly magical, and it makes my life better.
On a more practical note, I personally have experienced a great deal of success with higher intensity, low volume exercise protocols though I’ve worked and had good results with multiple disciplines. This style works really well for clients who are interested in managing body weight and reducing body fat without spending countless hours in the gym. Balance is key, so I work closely with my clients to structure achievable strategies to accomplish their fitness goals. I strategically utilize HIIT along with traditional resistance training, running and cycling (road, trail, and mountain – NWA has some awesome trails), and regular breath science practice.
